Surallah and Tboli under state of calamity due to El Niño
The towns of Surallah and Tboli in the Province of South Cotabato was placed under "state of calamity" due to drought brought by El Niño phenomenon.
According to the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg), El Niño has already destroyed an estimated 3,511 and 532 hectares of corn and rice fields respectively in the said municipalities.

Tnalak master dreamweaver and "national treasure" Be Lang Dulay passes away
South Cotabato and the Tboli tribe have lost an icon following the death of Be Lang Dulay, the Tnalak master dreamweaver, a Tboli princess and Gawad Manlilikha ng Bayan awardee on Thursday, April 30, 2015. She was 91.
Lang Dulay suffered a mildstroke earlier this year and has been in a coma for nearly three months.

MSU-Gensan gains 100% passing rate; grad Top 9 in April 2015 Electrical Engineer Board Exams
Mindanao State University- General Santos (MSU- GenSan) produced 10 new electrical engineers (100% passing rate) including a graduate who made it to the Top 10 of the April 2015 Electrical Engineer Board Exams.
Ronnel Tadeo Sumague placed 9th in the said examination with a rating of 86.30. He was among 884 out of 1,886 who passed the Electrical Engineer Licensure Exam held in April
